Chris Brown Sentenced for Beating Rihanna

On Tuesday, August 25th, 2009, Chris Brown was sentenced to five years’ probation and six months of community labor for beating his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. A judge also ordered Chris Brown to say away from Rihanna for the next 5 years. If any of the terms are violated, Brown can be sent to the state prison.

The decision of a judge was based on two previous incidents: the first violent incident happened in February during the traveling in Europe when Rihanna slapped Brown and he shoved her into the wall; the second incident occurred when Brown broke the windows in a car they were driving while traveling in Barbados.

Brown is required to serve his sentence in Virginia while the community labor is to be overseen in Richmond. Interestingly, Brown, who is 20 years old, is to perform physical labor instead of community service and must also undergo one year of violence counseling.

Rihanna did not attend the sentencing and did not comment it.
